Raqeem: useful software and digital tools, built for Arabic-speaking users

Raqeem is the umbrella for the work of developer and designer Ahmad Qataf: products used every day, such as the Miqat prayer-times website and the Kaseb point-of-sale system, plus web and app development and electronics projects. We also write in detail about what we learned building them.

Projects

Prayer times

Miqat

A free prayer-times website in English, Arabic and French. It calculates Fajr, sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha for 700+ cities per edition, using each country's official method (Umm al-Qura, Kuwait and Jordan ministries, Muslim World League, Egyptian authority, UOIF in France and more), with monthly timetables, Ramadan timetables, Qibla direction, a Hijri date converter, a zakat calculator and a miqat finder for Hajj and Umrah. It also hosts 100+ articles on prayer with every hadith referenced to the Dorar encyclopedia.

Point of sale

Kaseb

Kaseb is a cashier and point-of-sale system for small and medium shops — grocery stores, stationery and clothing shops. The goal is a simple tool to record sales quickly at the counter and know at the end of the day what was sold and what is left, without the complexity of enterprise systems. The idea grew out of years of work at a company building ERP systems. Kaseb also has a YouTube channel with step-by-step tutorials.

Web and mobile apps

Practical business apps — point of sale, bookings, clinic management — and progressive web apps that install on phones and work offline.

Electronics and microcontrollers

Arduino and ESP32 projects: sensors, load control and Wi-Fi monitoring, with laser-cut enclosures designed and made in our own workshop.

Design and motion graphics

Brand identities, interface design and educational or promotional motion-graphics videos in Arabic and English, backed by 17+ years of experience.

Our approach

We build small tools that solve one problem well. Miqat does not just show prayer times; it explains how they are calculated and why timetables differ, and uses the official method of each country. Kaseb does not try to be a full ERP; it covers what a small shop actually needs. We apply the same approach to client projects: less complexity, faster performance and carefully written Arabic and English content.
